Notice on Changing of Water Charges/ 水道料金改定のお知らせ
The water supply business is operated not by the taxation but by the water charges from its users. As the water consumption per person per day has been decreasing due to the spread of water-saving devices and other factors, the revenue from the water charges has been decreasing, while the costs for renewing and maintaining aging water supply facilities is increasing. The water supply business is therefore in financial difficulties.
In order to ensure the stable delivery of safe and reliable tap water in the future, the water charges will be revised (increased) from April 1, 2024.

Details of Revision of Water Charges/ 料金改定の内容
○ The water charges will be increased by about 20 percent on average from April 1, 2024.

This is the first revision in 31 years since 1993.
○ The billing of water supply will be changed from the system differentiated ‘by the categories of usage (e.g., for Residential use/ for Commercial use’) to ‘by water pipe diameter’.
- The new billing system is more equitable as the users pay in accordance with the amount of water consumed.
Note: The sewer usage charges remain unchanged.

Those users of water before March 31, 2024 will be charged according to the new rates noted in the table below, effective from meter reading in June or July.
Those starting use of water on and after April 1, 2024 will be charged according to the new rate from the first meter reading.

≪Comparison of water charges with other municipalities in Saitama Prefecture/ 埼玉県内他市町村との水道料金の比較≫
Comparing water rates for an average household using 10 cubic meters per month with the 55 water utilities in Saitama Prefecture, the current rate of Misato City is the 3rd lowest (770 yen).
After the revision, the rate will presumably be the 8th lowest (913 yen) in Saitama Prefecture.

*’Notice of Water Consumption’ is a slip or a postcard after your meter reading is taken, which specifies the amount of water consumed and the period of use.
